Here is a short Terms of Service page just because it’s a good idea. This is between you (the USER), us (DOGS YYC), and SLIcore Design (WEBMASTER). Just a couple liability things. Understand that, by visiting this site, you are acknowledging your awareness of the following details and will, in no way, hold DOGS YYC or the WEBMASTER responsible for damages.
Veracity of Content
Dogs YYC works hard to make sure that its USERs have the most accurate information possible and will make every effort to ensure outdated or incorrect information is edited or removed. In the event that there are discrepancies between information found on DOGS YYC and the third party site or resource from which that information originated, the USER should consider the information from that third party as correct. This is especially true regarding the City of Calgary, Animal and Bylaw Services, and any and all bylaws and other documents that DOGS YYC may reference. DOGS YYC is simply that, a reference, and will source the origin of any information presented.
DOGS YYC does not speak on behalf of Calgary Animal and Bylaw Services or any City of Calgary department.
DOGS YYC will not be held liable for the veracity, or lack thereof, of any information provided from a third party. DOGS YYC is careful about its sources and will therefore consider the information provided by those sources as true to the extend of that source’s knowledge. If a visitor or registered member of DOGS YYC finds inaccurate information, that user is encouraged to bring said information to the attention of DOGS YYC administration (give us a holler on the contact form).
Use of Content on DOGS YYC (text, images, videos)
DOGS YYC is an information site only. The sharing of content on the site is done so for the purposes of education much like any other social network, and is not shared with the intent to promote DOGS YYC. That said, any cognitive dissonance with regards to the sharing of articles on the site should be immediately brought to the attention of DOGS YYC administration. DOGS YYC would like to share valuable content to dog parents and will negotiate a mutually beneficial arrangement with the affected party but, in the absence of any negotiation, will remove the content upon request.
Use of Images or Videos or Likeness in Images or Videos (of Dogs or People)
DOGS YYC may request images of Calgarians’ dogs, Calgarians with their dogs, or to take pictures of either, for the purpose of populating DOGS YYC with exciting visual content. Permission is granted only at the discretion of the person to whom the request was given. DOGS YYC will NOT display content of people or their dogs without permission. If there is any concern about an image(s) on DOGS YYC, the concerned visitor should contact DOGS YYC immediately to have the image(s) removed. Images and video used on DOGS YYC are either the property of DOGS YYC or they have been provided with permission. DOGS YYC assumes anyone providing images to DOGS YYC for use in the site has permission to use those images by the owners of the images and/or the people seen in the images.
Note: DOGS YYC will not remove content without some verification that the request for removal has come from the actual owner of the content or the person(s) shown or described within. A dog’s identity will need to be verified before a request for removal of the content is honoured. In other words, if a visitor has a Rottweiler, he or she cannot ask for photos of Rottweilers to be removed from the site because the dogs depicted look like his or her Rottweiler.
Any graphics or designs containing likenesses to any person or person’s dog – living or dead – is entirely coincidental, are the sole property of DOGS YYC, and removal from the site will not be negotiated.
Training and Related Safety
DOGS YYC may, at one time or another, post information from an obedience trainer or will post the experiences of another dog parent. This should not be misunderstood as official obedience training documentation and dog parents are strongly advised to exercise discretion and caution whenever engaging in obedience training with their dogs. We love them, but accidents do happen.
Again, DOGS YYC is a reference for Calgarians (to find trainers among other things) and cannot be held liable for any damages or injuries that may result from any misunderstanding of the information contained in DOGS YYC. Further, any documentation, articles, or links posted on DOGS YYC pointing to information about animal health and first aid should in no way be construed as first aid training. DOGS YYC takes no responsibility for damages or injury from the failure to understand this. Matters of health and first aid should always be left to trained professional practitioners.
Services Directory and Shop
The services directory is meant to bring Calgarians closer to the services available for them and their dogs. DOGS YYC makes every effort to verify the existence of the organizations that submit listings on the site but do caution site visitors to use discretion – as anyone should – when procuring services on the internet. If a visitor to DOGS YYC hires a dog walker or babysitter, it is that visitor’s responsibility to ensure that the server provider has the requisite insurance and bonding in place.
DOGS YYC will not be held liable for any damages resulting from an organization defrauding a customer who previously procured the service on the site. HOWEVER, site visitors should inform DOGS YYC about their experience so that an investigation can be opened. Any fraud or act that has caused damage to a DOGS YYC visitor, investigated by DOGS YYC, will result in the immediate removal of all directory listings without refund.
DOGS YYC only offers directory listings for the service categories listed on the directory listing submission page. DOGS YYC will not offer for sale any listing or ad space for businesses who offer dogs or cats for retail sale.
Security on DOGS YYC
As Short Statement on Breeders and DOGS YYC
DOGS YYC recognizes reputable breeders that conduct their practice out of respect and devotion for their chosen breed. Breeders featured on DOGS YYC will be featured for their commitment to the health and well-being of the dogs under their care. DOGS YYC does not condone “backyard” breeders or any facilitation that could be construed as a “mill”. DOGS YYC is committed as much to dogs as to dog parents.
Dogs are not products. They bring love, not money.
Visitors with Epilepsy or other Screen/Monitor or Light-related Sensitivities
DOGS YYC and the WEBMASTER understand that some people may have sensitivities when viewing images, text, and video on visual monitors. Particularly those with epilepsy. By viewing this site, you agree that DOGS YYC and the WEBMASTER will not be held liable for any injuries that may result from viewing the website (i.e. from a fall or seizure).
Dogs YYC Member Conduct
DOGS YYC operates a fully functioning membership platform that is intended to allow dog parents to communicate, schedule meets, and have a genuine good time. In the interest of keeping the interactions on DOGS YYC fun and light-hearted, all members are expected to treat each other with mutual respect. No two dog parents are the same, everyone’s values are different. Harassment and demeaning behaviour by any member against another member – or anyone else – will not be tolerated. DOGS YYC reserves the right to ban anyone for violating these terms. Spam also will not be tolerated. Any attempt to use the membership site to post dangerous or questionable links, or to post malicious code, will result in the immediate ban and deletion of the account used.
If any user is subject to harassment, demeaning language/behaviour, or spam, he or she is encouraged to report it by clicking the “SPAM” button or by emailing DOGS YYC through the contact form.
